Ладно, мнения пилотов формулы 1 о поездках на раллийных автомобилях :
Эдди Ирвайн:
"I've flown in fighter jets with the Red Arrows and been bounced around in
super-quick powerboats but nothing compares to the experience of sitting
alongside Colin.
"It was truly awesome and in all honesty I have to confess the experience
was better than sex. I have never felt so invigorated in my life. When we
first set off I wasn't sure whether I was enjoying it or not because I kept
thinking to myself 'This is madness.' I was just thankful when we
stopped."
Марк Бланделл
"I would have loved to have come to the end of the rally and if MG or any other manufacturer gives me a chance next year I would love to do it again."
Жанкарло Физикелла
"It was a great experience," said the Italian afterwards. I competed in the Monza Rally in 1997, but not in a car as good as this, which seemed to be as responsive as my F1 machine. It’s been a fantastic experience,” Fisichella said. “It’s a pleasure to sit alongside Markko and to watch how he works. When it was my turn to drive it took a couple of laps to learn the car and the circuit but when I started to push I was amazed. The Focus has such good grip and the brakes are excellent, and that combined by it’s incredible handling and throttle response makes it great fun to drive - totally different to an F1 car! In my Jordan-Ford if you slide you lose time but in rallying you need to go sideways to go fast. I think maybe the rally drivers are a bit more crazy!”
Ральф Фирман
"Having someone tell you which way the road goes certainly gives you confidence," said Ralph, but when he started telling me what was coming up a few corners further on, I couldn't remember what he'd said. The car handled superbly, even though there was a bit more understeer than I expected. Compared to an F1 car the Focus doesn’t turn in as sharply but the grip is just awesome, especially coming out of slow corners. You plant the throttle and it just takes off – really it’s an incredible machine and it was a fantastic experience.”
Мика Хаккинен
"With more experience came more speed, like when I was driving to the jumps at 200km per hour. When we were testing, it was all fun and games, we ate sausages and had sauna, but the race is another thing, it's hard work from top to bottom. It was really cool to work with a professional team here." "It's been really great fun," he grinned. "Everything has gone well and we stayed on the road. A few times I messed up with my limit and as soon as I did that I was on the brakes. I think it will be easier to continue in the morning."
"He is very concentrated and the rally is on his mind all the time. He works very seriously"All stages on the race are difficult, because you have to be concentrated 100 % all the time"You can throw the WRC car into corners quite roughly as you can do with the F1 car, although the handling of the two cars is not alike. The biggest difference when it comes to driving is that in rally you use much more brake and throttle together," Mika marvelled. "With a four-wheel drive you can touch the breaks in a corner with no worries because the front wheels won't be locked."
