Верить сейчас я предлагаю не сиэнэну и не министерству Ирака, а Аль-Джазире - её информация наиболее объективна, хотя часто и приукрашена.
Вот отрывок из моей переписки с CO по SW Combine. Оказывается, американцы не так уж и положительно относятся к войне. Но меня поражает логика: "Сначала разрушим, а потом посмотрим, было ли что-нибудь внутри".

I think that Iraq could be a threat to the world (or at least the U.S.).
But at this point I don't know. Once we crush Iraq I guess we'll figure out
just what kind of weapons they have that really DO justify our going in. If
they don't have anything significantly illegal then I guess the Americans
just lost a lot of credibility. If they happen to have an arsenal that Bush
says they do (e.g. mass destruction, poison gas, etc.), then I'll be a
little prouder of being an American.

Simply: no, I don't. It's setting a precedent for a pre-emptive strike
against a nation that has not done anything against us technically... we are
coming down on them because our Intel says they COULD have weapons that
break the agreements that ended the Gulf War of 1991. We have no right to
encroach upon their sovereignty. And personally I don't want a war. While
desperate times may call for drastic measures... these times with Iraq are
not what I consider "desperate" in any way, shape, or form.
